Jon and Jen Crowder of Peak Rhythms were in North Platte to conduct a drum circle facilitators training on Friday, May 9, 2008. Peak Rhythms conducted a daylong facilitator training for about 25 people. The training closed with a community drum circle designed to introduce the community to drumming circles and allow the facilitators an opportunity to practice the skills they learned during the day.
Drumming circle facilitators learned the principles of drum circles and the tools and techniques for facilitating a circle. Jon quoting his own mentor, Arthur Hull, said," The facilitator's role is to serve the circle, while leading the group to its highest musical level. A skilled facilitator creates an inclusive atmosphere for players of all musical levels, ages, and ethnicities, where every one feels safe and comfortable."
Drumming circles will make their debut as an activity of Rail Fest 2008. Watch for opportunities to join in a drum circle or to make a drum in preparation for Rail Fest. For information about making a drum or to find a local drum circle contact Rail Fest using the form you will find
