Women and Railroading Song Contest
Sing a song of women working on the rails.
Lucy Frey and the Original Town Association offer $100 to the writer of the best original song honoring women who work for the Union Pacific Railroad.
Entries must be submitted to Original Town Association by midnight August 31, 2011. Email entries to: annmilton@hamilton.net or Mail entries to Original Town Association, Inc, PO Box 1704, North Platte, NE 69103-1704.
Entries may be individual or group effort and any genre. Entries will be judged on originality, melody, composition, and lyrics. Please make sure to carefully read the

The winning song will be part of the 2011 Rail Fest celebration.

The $100 prize for the contest is offered by Lucille Frey—singer, songwriter and activist for women’s rights. A talented guitar, banjo and harmonica player, she never worked on the railroad but admires the courage of the women who do, especially those who opened
the door for others by being the first in what for many years was considered a man’s field.
